Everybody Can Play - Telling the Story of Inclusive Play

Every year, the Moda Assist program turns assists on the basketball court into something much bigger: opportunities for children of all abilities to play together. Through a partnership between Moda Health and the Portland Trail Blazers, the program helps communities across Oregon build inclusive playgrounds designed to welcome every child.

To help bring that mission to the screen, Moda Health and the Trail Blazers partnered with Rushlight to produce Everybody Can Play, a broadcast television commercial showcasing the impact of inclusive play and the families it serves.

The Challenge

The value of an inclusive playground extends far beyond the equipment itself. These spaces create opportunities for connection, confidence, independence, and belonging for children of all abilities.
The challenge was capturing that impact in a way that felt genuine and emotionally resonant while communicating the purpose of the Moda Assist program in just sixty seconds. Rather than focusing on the mechanics of the program, the story needed to show the real-world difference inclusive spaces can make for children and their families.

Our Approach

Rushlight led production of the commercial, filming at an inclusive playground in Portland and focusing on authentic moments of play, interaction, and community.

By centering the experience of children and families, the spot highlighted the power of spaces intentionally designed for everyone. The visual approach emphasized movement, joy, and connection, creating an emotional narrative that reinforced the campaign's simple but powerful message: everybody can play.

Our team managed all aspects of production, from planning and logistics through filming, editing, post-production, and delivery.

The Result

The finished commercial delivered a heartfelt story about inclusion and community impact while helping showcase the mission behind the Moda Assist program. Through authentic storytelling and cinematic visuals, the spot celebrated the partnership between Moda Health, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the communities they serve.

The work earned industry recognition with Emmy Award nominations, including nominations Director Devon Lyon, and Producer Tayleranne Bray.
